U.S. Representative Mike Flood, who has been serving Nebraska's 1st congressional district since 2022, recently voiced concerns and shared updates on initiatives within the state. Through social media, Flood addressed issues ranging from local weather forecasting challenges to an exciting community development project and the formation of a Congressional caucus. Flood, having succeeded former Congressman Jeff Fortenberry, had previously served in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013. He brings a background in law, with degrees from the University of Notre Dame and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

On March 26, 2025, Rep. Mike Flood tweeted a message regarding staffing challenges at the National Weather Service (NWS) in Nebraska, noting that such challenges are impacting the quality of weather forecasts. He highlighted the importance of the regular weather forecasts issued by the NWS and expressed concern for the affected quality in Nebraska. "Over the years, the @NWS has issued regular weather forecasts across the country. Recent reporting has indicated that their offices in Nebraska have experienced staffing challenges that are impacting their ability to provide high quality forecasts."

Later that same day, Flood participated in a community event, attending the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bellevue Bay Indoor Waterpark. In his tweet, he remarked on the progress of the Bellevue community and looked forward to the realization of the waterpark project. "Bellevue is a community on the move. Joined @CityofBellevue for the groundbreaking of the Bellevue Bay Indoor Waterpark. It will be exciting to see this project come to life in the months ahead!"

Also on March 26, Flood announced the launch of the Congressional Broadcasters Caucus alongside fellow Representatives Mark Alford, Brendan Boyle, and Darren Soto. He noted the significance of the broadcasting industry as a primary news source for Americans and encouraged further engagement with this important sector. "Recently launched the Congressional Broadcasters Caucus with @RepMarkAlford, @RepBrendanBoyle, and @RepDarrenSoto for the 119th Congress. The broadcasting industry serves as the primary news source for many Americans."
