Mike Flood, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 1st district since 2022, has used his social media platform to address the ongoing government shutdown and its effects on American families. In a series of posts between October 3 and October 4, 2025, Flood criticized Senate Democratic leadership and outlined the consequences of the budget impasse.

The following day, Flood addressed additional concerns: "The Democrat Shutdown is hurting homeowners.
A key example: Flood insurance policies can't be processed, leaving prospective buyers in limbo.

Flood has served in Congress since replacing Jeff Fortenberry in 2022. He previously held office in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013. Born in Omaha in 1975 and currently residing in Norfolk, Flood holds degrees from both the University of Notre Dame and University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
