Earlier this week the Gage County Sheriff's Office partnered with the Nebraska Public Power District by monitoring and reviewing an "Active Shooter" drill at the Beatrice Power Station.
Sheriff Gustafson and several deputies observed the NPPD staff drill, then provided insight and information to NPPD staff, NPPD security and the NPPD Security Operations Center on the capabilities and limitations observed and the sheriff's office response to active shooters.
StarCare Air Ambulance (helicopter ambulance) flew in and landed on site, displaying their capabilities and sharing information on landing requirements and preferences.
Deputy Chavez and Deputy Nissen provided insight into the response by road patrol deputies and radio communication.
Chief Deputy Klaus and Sergeant Hanson provided a perspective from an administrative viewpoint and active shooter protocol and best practices.
