U.S. Congressman Mike Flood (R-Nebraska) has expressed support for the recent decisions by Google/YouTube TV and Disney/Hulu + Live TV to add C-SPAN to their streaming platforms. The move comes after ongoing efforts from Flood, including leading a bipartisan letter to the networks, delivering a floor speech on the matter, and co-authoring an op-ed with Senator Ron Wyden (D-Oregon).
“This morning’s announcement that both YouTube TV and Hulu will add C-SPAN to their offerings is great news for public access to the work of Washington and transparency in our government. Since 1979, C-SPAN has offered gavel-to-gavel coverage of Capitol Hill and as more Americans switch to streaming, the decision by the streaming services to carry the network means even more households can see the work of our democratic republic directly. I applaud Google/YouTube TV and Disney/Hulu + Live TV adding C-SPAN and hope additional streaming services follow their example in the near future.”
Flood has represented Nebraska’s 1st district in Congress since 2022, following his previous tenure in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013. He replaced Jeff Fortenberry in Congress after a special election that year. Flood was born in Omaha in 1975 and now resides in Norfolk. He holds degrees from both the University of Notre Dame and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
