Rep. Mike Flood, U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 1st district since 2022, posted a series of statements on his official social media account addressing ongoing political and international issues.
On October 7, 2025, Flood commented on the ongoing government shutdown, stating, "It is now DAY 7 of the Democrat Shutdown. Here's what the Democrats are demanding while they keep the government shut: $1.5 TRILLION in new spending Healthcare for people who came to America illegally Funding cuts for rural hospitals This just has to end."
Later the same day, Flood reflected on the anniversary of the October 7th attacks in Israel, writing, "Two years later, we continue to grieve the lives lost in the brutal October 7th attacks launched by Hamas against Israel, and we hope for the return of the remaining hostages. Our prayers are with the families who continue to grieve the loss of their loved ones. America will"
On October 9, 2025, Flood praised former President Donald Trump’s role in Middle East diplomacy, posting, "President @realDonaldTrump gets all the credit. After two difficult years, American leadership is helping bring peace in the Middle East. My reaction to the deal President Trump brokered between Israel and Hamas on @Morning_Joe today "
Flood, who was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1975 and resides in Norfolk, has a background in law and public service. He earned a BA from the University of Notre Dame and a JD from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Before joining Congress, Flood served in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013 and replaced Jeff Fortenberry in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022.
