U.S. Congressman Mike Flood, alongside Congressmen Mark Alford, Brendan Boyle, and Darren Soto, has announced the establishment of the Broadcasters Caucus for the 119th Congress. This bipartisan group aims to educate fellow lawmakers about broadcasters' challenges and emphasize the importance of local radio and television stations.

"Broadcast journalism is the cornerstone of how Middle America receives its news," stated Congressman Flood. He highlighted his background in broadcasting before joining Congress and expressed satisfaction in collaborating with Alford, Boyle, and Soto as co-chairs to further the caucus's mission.

Congressman Mark Alford reflected on his experience as a TV news reporter: "Our time in the media gave us a front row seat to the stories that impact our constituents’ lives." He emphasized working with his co-chairs to bridge partisan divides and address issues critical to broadcasting.

Congressman Brendan Boyle noted his role in founding the Broadcasters Caucus five years ago. "Both as a student broadcaster and as the Representative for Pennsylvania’s 2nd district, I have seen firsthand how many Americans rely on our local broadcasters," he said.

Congressman Darren Soto remarked on leading efforts within Central Florida: "Our region’s diverse communities and dynamic growth demand that we stand together to ensure fair representation."

Curtis LeGeyt, President and CEO of NAB, praised these congressmen for relaunching the caucus. "These lawmakers recognize the vital role local TV and radio stations play in every community across the country," he said.

All four congressmen have extensive backgrounds in broadcasting prior to their political careers. Congressman Flood founded a broadcast communications company; Congressman Alford was a long-time news anchor; Congressman Boyle worked in broadcast radio; while Congressman Soto remains an advocate for local news providers.
