U.S. Congressman Mike Flood released a statement regarding the House's decision on H.R. 471, known as the Fix Our Forests Act. This legislation aims to address forest management practices.
"Our hearts go out to the people of California who continue to fight fires and rebuild their lives in the wake of massive devastation," said Congressman Flood. He emphasized his role as Chair of the Housing & Insurance Subcommittee and assured Californians that efforts are being made in Washington for change.
Flood pointed out the impact of poor forest management, using California as an example. "Misguided policies, fueled by the aspirations of environmental activists, have exacerbated the wildfires, leaving thousands of Californians without homes," he stated. He highlighted the importance of reducing risks associated with such events and described the Fix Our Forests Act as a move towards more efficient forest management.
Congressman Flood serves on the Financial Services Committee and is Chairman of its Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance. Additionally, he is a member of the Western Caucus.
