WASHINGTON, D.C. – On May 23, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood issued a statement following the passage of LB 683e in the Nebraska State Legislature. LB 683e includes provisions that functionally bar Huawei hardware from cell towers in Nebraska.

“Huawei has deep ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and there is widespread agreement their technology can be leveraged for surveillance and sabotage of our communities and military installations. I applaud Senator Bostar’s leadership to pass this bipartisan bill that will now ensure the dollars of everyday Nebraskans do not subsidize telecommunications companies using technology that can pose a national security threat. This is a great step forward for Nebraska and a model for other states as they work to protect our country against CCP encroachment on America’s sovereignty.”

Congressman Flood has pushed for removal of Huawei hardware and has been a vocal opponent of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Background on Congressman Flood’s work can be found here.
