The sheriff's office contacts all the schools in Gage County and schools adjacent to Gage County, to pick a couple kids who might have had a down year, to take them shopping to buy gifts for themselves and / or their family.
They get $100 and a deputy or an officer from the sheriff's office helps them shop.
Afterwards, we go to a local business, this year it's Sonic, to help wrap gifts and eat food, then drop them back off at home via a patrol car. (They also picked up from the school by a deputy.)
