U.S. Congressman Mike Flood released a statement following the death of former Vice President Dick Cheney. Flood highlighted Cheney’s long career in public service, including his roles in the House of Representatives, as Secretary of Defense, and as Vice President.
"From his time in the House of Representatives to his service as Secretary of Defense and Vice President, Dick Cheney worked to make America and the world a safer, more peaceful place through his decades of public service. Many Nebraskans will remember him as native of Lincoln where he was born before his family made Wyoming their home. Mandi and I are praying for the Cheney family as we honor his life and service to our country,” said Congressman Flood.
Flood has represented Nebraska’s 1st district in Congress since 2022, after replacing Jeff Fortenberry. He previously served in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013. Born in Omaha in 1975, Flood currently resides in Norfolk. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BA in 1997 and earned a JD from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2001.
