U.S. Congressman Mike Flood has opened applications for the spring internship program in his Washington, D.C. office. The program is designed to give participants experience in the workings of Congress and public policy.

“My office is now welcoming applications for our spring internship program in Washington, D.C.,” Congressman Flood announced. “Participants will have the chance to immerse themselves in the work of our nation’s capital and observe firsthand how public policy comes to life. If you have any interest in learning more about how our government works, I encourage you to apply today.”

Interns will work with congressional staff and learn about constituent services, communications, legislative affairs, and committee operations. They will also be able to attend hearings, policy briefings, guest speaker events, exhibits, and networking opportunities on Capitol Hill.

The application deadline is November 28, 2025. Selected applicants will be notified by December 19. The internship runs from January 26 through May 8. Applicants with graphic design or writing experience are encouraged to submit examples along with their resume.

Students and recent graduates connected to Nebraska’s first congressional district will receive priority consideration for the program.

Mike Flood currently represents Nebraska’s 1st district in Congress after replacing Jeff Fortenberry in 2022 (https://flood.house.gov/about). He previously served in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013 (https://nebraskalegislature.gov/senators/legacy_view.php?senator_id=71). Flood was born in Omaha in 1975 and lives in Norfolk. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BA and earned a JD from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (https://flood.house.gov/about).
