Rep. Mike Flood, who represents Nebraska’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on November 3, 2025, commending Tom Briese for his service as State Treasurer and highlighting his contributions to the state.

In one post, Flood stated, "In his time as State Treasurer, he pushed for property tax relief, supported successful efforts to expand the state’s 529 program, and implemented one of Nebraska’s first school choice programs." (November 3, 2025).

Flood also expressed gratitude for Briese's broader public service record: "Thank you to @NeTreasurer Tom Briese for his years of service to the State of Nebraska. Before his time as State Treasurer, Tom was a voice for Nebraska’s ag producers and working families in the Nebraska Unicameral where he shaped tax policy and championed pro-life legislation." (November 3, 2025).

Concluding his remarks, Flood extended personal well-wishes: "Best wishes to Tom and his wife Joan. Thank you for your years of public service to the state!" (November 3, 2025).

Mike Flood has represented Nebraska’s 1st District in Congress since replacing Jeff Fortenberry in 2022. He previously served in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013. Born in Omaha in 1975 and currently residing in Norfolk, Flood holds degrees from the University of Notre Dame and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
