Rep. Mike Flood, U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 1st district since 2022, publicly congratulated Joey Spellerberg on his appointment as the next State Treasurer of Nebraska in a series of posts dated November 3, 2025.
In one post, Flood wrote, "Congratulations to my good friend, @JoeySpellerberg, on his appointment as the next State Treasurer. He has done an outstanding job as Mayor of Fremont and brings a broad array of experience as a community and local business leader." In another message from the same day, Flood added, "As our next State Treasurer, I know he will safeguard the state’s finances, be an outstanding steward of Nebraska’s college savings plan, and help deliver new operational efficiencies." He continued by expressing support for Spellerberg's transition into office: "I look forward to working with him as he steps into this important role as an advocate for our state’s taxpayers."
Flood has represented Nebraska’s 1st District in Congress since replacing Jeff Fortenberry in 2022. Prior to his current role in Washington D.C., he served in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013. Born in Omaha in 1975 and currently residing in Norfolk, Flood holds degrees from the University of Notre Dame and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
