Rep. Mike Flood, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 1st district, has recently addressed issues of domestic agricultural production and the ongoing federal government shutdown in a series of posts on his social media account.

On October 20, 2025, Flood wrote, "Growing domestic production is the best pathway to building a brighter future for our farm and ranch families and to help feed our country and the world. #BeefState".

The following day, he commented on the status of the federal government shutdown, stating on October 21, 2025: "It's day 21 of the Democrat government shutdown and Democrats continue to vote to keep the government shut. More from my recent visit with @cspanwj about the ongoing Democrat shutdown https://t.co/v5KghCUncU".

Later that same day, Flood added further criticism regarding the shutdown: "Democrats have shut down the federal government to appease their far left base. This move puts military readiness, our social safety net, and more at risk - all to score political points. More in my conversation with @CNN earlier this month https://t.co/ZboVH2UKkT".

Flood has represented Nebraska’s 1st district in Congress since 2022 after replacing Jeff Fortenberry. He previously served in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013. Born in Omaha in 1975, Flood currently resides in Norfolk and holds degrees from both the University of Notre Dame and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
