Rep. Mike Flood, who represents Nebraska’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on October 20, 2025, to address ongoing issues related to the federal government shutdown and support for the beef industry.
In a post made at 14:31 UTC, Flood stated: "WATCH: @HouseGOP did our job and voted to fund the government. As we approach the fourth week of the shutdown, Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer continues to block attempts to reopen the government. More from my recent visit with @cspanwj https://t.co/pvQBONaHHG".
Later that day at 19:40 UTC, he questioned Democratic actions during the shutdown, writing: "ICYMI: Why are Democrats leaving federal workers, contractors, and crucial services in limbo? Democrats are holding the federal government hostage to appease their far left base. More from my recent visit with @JulieMasonShow1 https://t.co/tZ1yZOOckn".
In a separate post at 23:13 UTC on October 20, Flood highlighted agricultural policy by expressing agreement with Senator Fischer’s comments about American beef. He wrote: ".@SenatorFischer is right — America has the best beef in the world. I’m eager to work with my colleagues and the administration to find more ways to grow our beef industry here at home."
Flood has represented Nebraska’s 1st district since replacing Jeff Fortenberry in 2022 and previously served in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013. Born in Omaha in 1975 and currently residing in Norfolk, Flood holds degrees from both Notre Dame (BA) and University of Nebraska-Lincoln (JD).
