Rep. Adrian Smith addresses national issues including mourning Charlie Kirk and U.S.-Israel relations

Rep. Adrian Smith, who represents Nebraska’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on his official social media account addressing national mourning, foreign policy concerns regarding Israel and Hamas, and ongoing budget negotiations in Congress.

On September 21, 2025, Smith commented on the passing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. In his post, he stated: "As our nation mourns the loss of Charlie Kirk, we look to the Lord with hope and confidence that Charlie’s message will positively shape the future of our country. His patriotic vigor, heart for young Americans, and legacy of seeking truth will carry on and continue to inspire https://t.co/zuKihG5NL1".

The following day, September 22, Smith addressed the approaching two-year anniversary of the October 7th terror attack in Israel. He wrote: "As we approach two years since the Oct. 7th terror attack, this sends the wrong signal to our allies and adversaries alike. Hamas continues to hold innocent civilians hostage and threaten Israel's right to exist. The immediate, safe return of all remaining hostages and".

Later that same day, Smith commented on fiscal negotiations in Congress: "As @HouseGOP works to get our fiscal house in order, it is disappointing Democrats are insisting on a shutdown to advance their unrelated, partisan objectives. https://t.co/fQ3JaOh7VT".

Adrian Smith has served as a member of Congress since 2007 after replacing Tom Osborne. Prior to his tenure in Washington D.C., he was a member of the Nebraska Legislature from 1999 to 2007. Born in Scottsbluff in 1970 and currently residing in Gering at age 52, Smith graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a Bachelor’s degree in 1993.
