Rep. Mike Flood, who represents Nebraska’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, announced a forthcoming complaint to the House Ethics Committee concerning Rep. Ilhan Omar's recent speech and conduct.
On September 19, 2025, Flood posted on his official account: "NEW: Tomorrow, I will file a complaint with the Ethics Committee regarding the reprehensible speech and conduct of Rep. Ilhan Omar. Read the full story from @liz_elkind at @FoxNews here https://t.co/DgiJ32BYHo".
Later that day, he referenced additional reporting on the matter: '"Flood wants an ethics investigation prior to a move to censure Omar — but the Minnesota Democrat can’t be happy with the contents of what he sent to the Ethics Committee." In another statement posted on September 19, Flood wrote: "I am a strong defender of the U.S. Constitution and every citizen's right to the freedom of speech. While Rep. Omar maintains these fundamental liberties, she is Member of the House and must abide by the rules. My full letter to the Ethics Committee https://t.co/Weh95jeUgc".
Flood has represented Nebraska’s 1st District since 2022 after replacing Jeff Fortenberry in Congress. Before serving in Congress, Flood was a member of the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013 and holds degrees from both Notre Dame (BA) and University of Nebraska-Lincoln (JD). Born in Omaha in 1975, he currently resides in Norfolk.
