Rep. Mike Flood, who represents Nebraska’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to highlight ongoing efforts in expanding affordable housing and addressing rising homeownership costs.
On September 16, 2025, Flood shared details of his recent engagement with the San Francisco Association and the Financial Services Committee: "Spoke to @SFAssociation recently about @FinancialCmte efforts to expand affordable housing. There's strong bipartisan, bicameral support for this issue. It's time to continue the moment into real solutions. Thanks again for the invitation and thoughtful audience questions!"
Shortly after, he expressed gratitude to another organization: "Thank you to @PHADA_USA for the opportunity to speak at your legislative forum. We will continue to work towards commonsense, pro-market housing solutions to tackle the rising cost of homeownership!" This post was also made on September 16.
Later that day, Flood acknowledged a federal agency's role in advancing housing policy: "Thank you to @HUDgov for showcasing the latest housing solutions on the National Mall and for hosting @RepMonicaDLC and I for a conversation on commonsense reforms. We will continue to work together to address America’s housing needs!"
Flood has served as a member of Congress since 2022 after replacing Jeff Fortenberry and previously held office in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 through 2013. Born in Omaha in 1975 and currently residing in Norfolk, Flood holds degrees from both the University of Notre Dame (BA) and University of Nebraska-Lincoln (JD).
