Congressman Mike Flood released a statement ahead of Labor Day, which will be observed on September 1, 2025. In his message, Flood highlighted the contributions of workers in Nebraska’s First District.
“Labor Day is a celebration of the American people, our country's commitment to supporting working families, and the economic prosperity we enjoy. From Kawasaki to Nucor, working Nebraskans across our First District are at the foundation of growing the Good Life to make it even better while also providing opportunities that attract new families and strengthen our communities. Whether you’re a teacher, farmer, steelworker, or in any other profession, I hope you take this day to relax and enjoy time with family and friends. On behalf of my family and office, have a great and safe Labor Day weekend," Flood said.
Flood has represented Nebraska’s 1st district in Congress since 2022 after replacing Jeff Fortenberry (https://flood.house.gov/about). Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013 (https://nebraskalegislature.gov/senators/legacy_view.php?senator_id=82).
Flood was born in Omaha in 1975 and currently lives in Norfolk. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor’s degree in 1997 and earned his law degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2001.
