Rep. Mike Flood highlights progress on Nebraska rural healthcare and legislative efforts

Rep. Mike Flood, U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 1st district since 2022, highlighted recent developments in rural healthcare and legislative activities in a series of tweets on July 23, 2025.

In his first post, Flood expressed optimism about the future of Nebraska's rural hospitals: "Nebraska’s rural hospitals have a bright future ahead thanks to great teamwork from the federal delegation and @TeamPillen." (July 23, 2025)

He continued by referencing a new initiative supporting healthcare providers: "Nebraska’s first Directed Payment Program, which I help secure approval for, will support a strong foundation for our rural healthcare system for years to come.

Flood has represented Nebraska’s 1st district in Congress since replacing Jeff Fortenberry in 2022. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013. Born in Omaha in 1975 and currently residing in Norfolk at age 48, Flood holds degrees from the University of Notre Dame and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
