Today, Representative Adrian Smith (R-NE), who serves as the Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee's Trade Subcommittee, issued a statement regarding a new trade agreement between the United States and Indonesia. The Office of the United States Trade Representative has announced that an agreement has been reached to reduce both tariff and non-tariff trade barriers with Indonesia.
Smith stated, "This deal is a substantial step toward a level playing field for American industries. Ambassador Greer continues to work diligently to strike meaningful deals, and I look forward to further collaboration with the administration as negotiations progress." He emphasized that strengthening ties with Indonesia will enhance economic and regional security in the Indo-Pacific region while fostering cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and digital services.
