Steve White, a farm director for KRVN and a prominent figure in the agriculture community, has been honored with the Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute's (NAYI) Award of Merit. This accolade is the highest honor bestowed by the Nebraska Agricultural Youth Council (NAYC). The award was presented during a special luncheon at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s East Campus Union.
The Nebraska Department of Agriculture oversees both NAYC and NAYI. Christin Kamm, an advisor for NAYC, said, "He is an instantly recognizable and positive voice in the community." Kamm further praised White for his career-long efforts to educate listeners about agriculture and support youth-focused agricultural events.
White graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications from South Dakota State University in 1998. He previously served as Bureau Chief with KHGI-TV before joining Rural Radio earlier this year. His work connects rural audiences to important stories and developments within the agriculture sector.
Throughout his career, White has received recognition from several organizations including the Nebraska Broadcasters Association, Nebraska Sorghum Board, Nebraska Corn Board, and most recently from the Nebraska State Fair 1868 Foundation. His contributions extend beyond broadcasting; he actively participates in educating youth through roles such as panelist and presenter for Nebraska FFA. For these efforts, he was awarded their VIP award in 2024.
Kamm added, "Steve is the voice of rural Nebraska, keeping families and farmers connected to what is going on around the state." She expressed gratitude for his dedication to both youth and agriculture in Nebraska.
