Rep. Mike Flood, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 1st district, shared a series of tweets on July 4th, reflecting on American history and Independence Day celebrations. Rep. Flood succeeded Jeff Fortenberry in 2022 and has been active in politics since his tenure in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013.

In a tweet posted on July 4, 2025, Rep. Flood highlighted historical sacrifices made by Americans: "From the Boston Tea Party and the American Revolution to two World Wars and our decades long battle against terrorism, hundreds of thousands have given their lives to protect our constitutional republic."

He further expressed sentiments about national celebrations: "As Americans gather across the country for #IndependenceDay, we celebrate the freedoms that generations have bravely sacrificed for and fought to protect." This message was also shared on July 4, emphasizing the collective spirit of celebration.

Concluding his series of tweets on a personal note, Rep. Flood wished safety and joy to all celebrating Independence Day: "However you plan to celebrate, I hope that you have a safe and fun Fourth of July. May God bless you and may God bless the United States of America."

Rep. Mike Flood was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1975 and resides in Norfolk. He is an alumnus of the University of Notre Dame with a BA earned in 1997 and holds a JD from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln obtained in 2001.
