Rep. Mike Flood, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 1st district, has been active on social media discussing various initiatives and events. Flood replaced Jeff Fortenberry in 2022 and has served since then after a tenure in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013.
On June 10, 2025, Rep. Mike Flood highlighted his bipartisan stance on weather forecasting with a statement: “It doesn’t matter if you’re a Republican or a Democrat or an Independent,” Flood said. “Everybody wants accurate weather forecasting.” He referred to the Weather Workforce Improvement Act that he introduced last week, further detailed in an article by the Nebraska Examiner.
The following day, June 11, Flood welcomed members of @Nebraska4H to Washington D.C., expressing enthusiasm about their presence at the Nebraska Breakfast. He tweeted: "Welcome to DC, @Nebraska4H! It was great to catch up with 4-H members at today’s Nebraska Breakfast." He emphasized how the organization connects youth with opportunities in agriculture and beyond.
Later that day, Rep. Flood recognized National Dairy Month by celebrating dairy farm families through another tweet: "June is National Dairy Month, which is dedicated to celebrating our dairy farm families." He acknowledged the significant role of Nebraska's dairy farms in providing quality products locally and internationally.
Flood was born in Omaha in 1975 and resides in Norfolk. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and holder of a JD from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, he continues to be involved actively within his congressional duties.
