U.S. Congressman Mike Flood has expressed strong disapproval of President Joe Biden's recent statement concerning the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). The President, who is nearing the end of his term, issued a statement that Flood perceives as an overreach.

Flood stated, "President Biden’s attempt to give the impression that he’s unilaterally amending the U.S. Constitution is a shocking display of overreach in the waning days of his presidency." He emphasized that several states, including Nebraska, have either declined to ratify or have rescinded their ratification of the ERA.

The National Archivist recently confirmed that the ERA is not recognized as part of the Constitution. Despite this confirmation, Flood believes Biden's actions are intended to appease certain political groups rather than uphold constitutional integrity. "President Biden’s statement today does not and cannot change our Constitution," Flood asserted. He warned that such actions could undermine respect for both the rule of law and the Constitution itself.

Nebraska initially ratified the ERA in 1972 but withdrew its ratification a year later in 1973.
