Representative Mike Flood of Nebraska's 1st district, who succeeded Jeff Fortenberry in 2022, shared his concerns and opinions on recent regulatory actions through a series of tweets. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Flood has been active in Congress since 2022 after serving in the Nebraska State Legislature.
On November 21, 2024, Rep. Mike Flood expressed criticism regarding a new rule with a swift implementation timeline. He stated that "This final rule was rushed out, with a 30-day implementation deadline, to ensure that the incoming Director’s team couldn’t assess for themselves whether the rule is necessary."
In another tweet on the same day, he addressed issues surrounding the CFPB's Larger Participant rule. While acknowledging some relief over its exclusion of cryptocurrency, he noted that "the final rule still constitutes a troubling example of a regulator working overtime to expand its power and authority."
Later that day, Rep. Flood commented on Gary Gensler's forthcoming departure from his position as Chair of the SEC. He remarked that "Chair @GaryGensler's decision to step down in January comes none too soon. When he leaves @SECGov, he will leave a legacy of overreach and chaos."
