DOWNERS GROVE, ILL. – The Foundation for the Restoration of America (FFROA) awarded a $2,000 scholarship to University Nebraska-Lincoln student Claire Polk following her completion of the Constitutional Study Scholarship Program.

From Lincoln, Nebraska, Polk graduated from Our Lady of Guadalupe Homeschool this spring and will attend University Nebraska-Lincoln this fall with an intended major of Art History.

“I found it most interesting that the consent of the governed is not something to be brushed aside, it is central to the political theory of the American Founding,” Polk said while reflecting on the Hillsdale College courses included in the Constitutional Study Scholarship Program.

She continued: “The Founding Fathers knew the virtues and vices of mankind, so they structured the Constitution in such a way that the public can act reasonably before their passion.”

Polk also noted that while she personally gained a lot of knowledge, she is excited to be able to share what she learned from the program with future generations.

“I hope to pass on an appreciation for the rich history of America and her people– including my own ancestors--to my own children someday,” Polk said, “so that they may better appreciate their own freedom.”

The Foundation’s Executive Director Christine Altenberger shared her excitement about the program and the selected scholarship recipients.

“Claire embodies the best and brightest of this younger generation,” Altenberger said. “I feel confident that she is equipped with the truth and will share that with her peers and community.”
