Nebraska track and field senior thrower Jonah Wilson was named the Big Ten Men's Field Athlete of the Championships on Tuesday after a vote by the league's head coaches.
Wilson won the Big Ten indoor shot put title on Sunday with a new personal best of 68-5 (20.85m), the No. 2 throw in school history. Wilson transferred to Nebraska this season from Washington, where he was a three-time All-American, including a ninth-place finish at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Championships. Wilson is ranked No. 2 in the nation in the shot put heading into the NCAA Indoor Championships next week.
The Husker men have won four Big Ten Field Athlete of the Championships awards over the last three seasons, all by different Husker throwers. Maxwell Otterdahl was the outdoor Big Ten Field Athlete of the Championships in 2022, while Alex Talley was the indoor honoree in 2022. Burger Lambrechts Jr. became Nebraska's first-ever winner in the 2021 indoor season after winning the shot put title.
