Rep. Mike Flood, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 1st district since 2022, addressed the ongoing challenges caused by a government shutdown in a series of tweets on November 10, 2025.

Flood highlighted travel complications for lawmakers: "As House members jump on flights across the country amid travel delays and cancelations, it’s going to take all hands-on deck to get every one of them back to D.C. so that this vote happens quickly." (November 10, 2025).

He also acknowledged the strain placed on air travel workers: "Air traffic controllers and TSA agents have been working without pay throughout the shutdown. Crew members for @Delta, @SouthwestAir, @AmericanAir, @united, and airlines across the country are dealing with the fallout, too." (November 10, 2025).

Expressing appreciation for airline employees’ efforts during this period, Flood stated: "Thank you to everyone in the airline industry for you hard work and for your resilience through the shutdown. Let’s get the government open so that these air travel delays don’t negatively impact Thanksgiving holiday travel!" (November 10, 2025).

Mike Flood has served in Congress since replacing Jeff Fortenberry in Nebraska's 1st District in 2022. Before his current role, he was a member of the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013. Born in Omaha in 1975 and currently residing in Norfolk at age 48, Flood holds degrees from both the University of Notre Dame and University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
