Rep. Mike Flood, who represents Nebraska’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, has used his social media platform to comment on ongoing government issues and national policy debates. In a series of tweets posted between November 7 and November 10, 2025, Flood addressed topics ranging from the impact of a government shutdown on air travel to housing concerns across the country.

On November 7, Flood criticized Democratic lawmakers for their handling of the government shutdown, writing: "How bad does it have to get before the Democrats are serious about ending this? The Democrat Shutdown is now impacting the FAA's operations, leading to cancelations and delays across the country. More from my recent visit with @BloombergTV https://t.co/1wedS9d746".

Later that same day, he highlighted bipartisan efforts around housing policy: "From coast to coast, housing is a top issue across our nation. From President Trump's work to cut red tape to a growing 'Abundance' movement among Democrats, Americans are seeking solutions. Thank you to @USChamber for inviting me to speak on housing and more! https://t.co/xb1QDtIBGZ".

On November 10, as negotiations over the shutdown continued in Washington D.C., Flood provided an update on his travel plans and expressed concern about disruptions in air travel: "I’m headed to Washington, D.C. right now to help end the government shutdown. But this isn’t over yet – air travel is a mess and it’s going to get worse before it gets better. https://t.co/tEthnlovN3".

Flood has served as Nebraska’s representative since 2022 after replacing Jeff Fortenberry. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 through 2013. Born in Omaha in 1975 and currently residing in Norfolk at age 48, Flood holds degrees from both Notre Dame (BA) and University of Nebraska-Lincoln (JD).
