U.S. Congressman Mike Flood has released a statement following the death of Barry Kennedy, who was the former president of the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
"From the campaign trail to the State Capitol Rotunda, Barry Kennedy was respected among his peers and loved by the Legislature. Early in my career, Barry sat me down and ultimately became a big supporter and a mentor of mine. Barry and I worked together on virtually every business issue imaginable. His support through the years helped shape public policy and make me and many others successful. Mandi and I are keeping his family in our prayers as we celebrate his life’s work, which has left a significant mark on our state and made Nebraska a better place for everyone," Flood said.
Flood is currently serving in the U.S. Congress, representing Nebraska’s 1st district since 2022 after replacing Jeff Fortenberry. He previously served in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013. Flood was born in Omaha in 1975, is 48 years old, lives in Norfolk, graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BA in 1997, and earned a JD from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2001.
