Rep. Mike Flood, who represents Nebraska’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted several statements on social media addressing the ongoing government shutdown and recent developments in Middle East peace negotiations.
On October 9, 2025, Flood shared a post emphasizing House Republicans' efforts to maintain government operations: "WATCH: @HouseGOP voted to keep our government open. As we enter another day of the Democrat Shutown, its impacts are getting harsher as time moves on."
The following day, he commented on a major international development involving Israel and Hamas: "All credit goes to President @realDonaldTrump for striking this peace agreement between Israel and Hamas. Returning the remaining hostages would be a significant step, and I look forward to a day when families are reunited and communities across the region can build a better" (posted October 10, 2025).
Later that same day, Flood reported his visit to a local National Weather Service office in Omaha and discussed how federal employees there have been affected by the shutdown: "Visited @NWSOmaha today and heard firsthand how the Democrat Shutdown is impacting this local office. Right now, they aren’t getting paid. Democrats need to vote to reopen the government and to pay the people helping to keep America safe."
Flood has represented Nebraska's 1st District since 2022 after succeeding Jeff Fortenberry. He previously served in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013. Born in Omaha in 1975, Flood is currently based in Norfolk. He holds degrees from both the University of Notre Dame (BA) and University of Nebraska-Lincoln (JD).
