U.S. Congressmen Mike Flood and Troy A. Carter, Sr. have introduced the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Information Act. The proposed legislation aims to direct the United States Energy Information Administration (EIA) to explicitly include SAF in their regular reports, aligning it with existing fuel types.
"Nebraska remains a national leader in biofuel production and is a driving global leader in advancing the bioeconomy," stated Congressman Flood. "SAF represents just one of many promising ways to grow the biofuels sector and boost our rural communities."
Congressman Carter emphasized the environmental benefits of SAF, saying, "Without coordinated action between government and industry, greenhouse gas emissions will continue to increase as more people and goods fly through our skies."
The bill has garnered support from various organizations including the Advanced Biofuels Association, American Farm Bureau Federation, National Corn Growers Association, Nebraska Soybean Association, Renewable Fuels Nebraska, and others.
