Rep. Mike Flood, serving in the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska's 1st district since 2022, shared tweets reflecting on spiritual themes and figures in April 2025. These tweets reveal his thoughts on Easter and the influence of religious leaders, underscoring themes of resurrection and compassion.

On April 20, Flood quoted a biblical passage from Mark 16:6, "And he said to them, 'Do not be amazed; you seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen, he is not here; see the place where they laid him.'" He followed the quote with a celebratory message, "Christ is risen! Wishing you and your family a #EasterSunday."

The next day, April 21, Flood expressed admiration for the Holy Father, describing him as "a joyful man who loved people and worked to help them encounter the love of Christ no matter who they were and where they were from."

Additionally, on the same day, he acknowledged Pope Francis's efforts, stating, "Pope Francis used his platform to reach out to the least among us and to encourage others to care for and take up the cause of the marginalized."

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Mike Flood, aged 48, resides in Norfolk. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts in 1997 and received a Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2001. Before joining Congress, he served in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013, succeeding Jeff Fortenberry in Congress in 2022.
