U.S. Congressman Mike Flood released a statement regarding the recent passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). He highlighted key elements, including a pay raise for junior service members and support for Offutt Air Force Base.

"This year's NDAA delivers a 14.5% pay raise for junior service members to help with recruitment and retention, while also controlling spending by phasing out billions in Pentagon waste and outdated programs," said Flood. "This bill includes critical resources to support STRATCOM and Offutt Air Force Base in the coming year, including resources for a consolidated training complex and professional development center. I urge the Senate to act quickly, so that the President can sign the NDAA into law before the holidays."

The FY25 NDAA legislation includes various provisions as outlined by Speaker Mike Johnson's office:

- A 14.5% pay increase for junior enlisted service members.

- Support for National Guard deployment at the southwest border.

- Measures addressing PRC security threats and economic security issues.

- Prevention of Chinese espionage within military, supply chains, and research institutions.

- Expansion of U.S.-Israel military exercises and funding for cooperative missile defense programs.

- Increased funding for U.S. defense initiatives in the Indo-Pacific region to strengthen Taiwan’s defense.

- Savings of $31 billion by eliminating inefficient programs, obsolete weapons, and reducing Pentagon bureaucracy.

- Cutting $4 billion from non-essential programs.

- Prohibition on contracts with advertising firms that blacklist conservative news sources such as NewsGuard Technologies Inc.

- Abolishment of DEI bureaucracy and climate change programs.

- Ban on teaching or promoting critical race theory.

- Permanent ban on transgender medical treatment for minors.

- Measures against antisemitism by prohibiting sales at DOD commissaries from entities boycotting Israel.

Further details about the NDAA are available online.
