Gale Pohlmann, incumbent of the district 2 seat on the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors, received an endorsement from RED PAC, a political group focused on preserving property rights and fostering rural economic development.

Charlie Kolean, chief strategist for RED PAC, announced the group's endorsement of Pohlmann alongside their decision non-support for his opponent Danielle Schwab.

"Gale Pohlmann’s extensive experience and steadfast dedication to conservative principles make him the ideal candidate for Jefferson County," Kolean said. "At RED PAC, we believe that respecting and defending the rights of landowners to use their property as they see fit is fundamental. Unfortunately, Danielle Schwab’s positions do not reflect the strong commitment to these principles that we require from our endorsed candidates."

Seventy-two landowners in Jefferson County signed on to a wind energy lease with NextEra Energy's Big Blue Wind Project, according to News Channel Nebraska.

According to NextEra, the property owners will receive a total of $97 million in benefits and the surrounding community will receive $45 million in new tax revenue, including $30 million to Jefferson County's school system.

According to the Fairbury Journal News, Schwab was opposed measures to reduce zoning regulations on landowners to allow the project to move forward, and told the outlet in a written statement, "I am disappointed by a majority of large landowners who are for the project."

Pohlmann and Schwab will also run against Doug Brown during the May 14th primary election for the District 2 seat on the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors.

RED PAC is a political action committee focused protecting private property rights, increasing local government transparency, and fostering rural economic development.
