WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood delivered a speech on the House floor addressing America’s need to provide Ukrainians with the arms they require to defeat Russia.

In his speech, Congressman Flood emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, "Mr. Speaker, I rise today to address Russia’s ongoing efforts to conquer portions of Ukraine." He pointed out the importance of understanding the reason behind America's military aid to Ukraine, highlighting that it goes beyond a mere territorial dispute and is about countering Russia's imperialist ambitions.

Highlighting Russian President Vladimir Putin's aspirations, Congressman Flood mentioned, "You don’t have to take my word for it – Vladimir Putin has compared himself to Czar Peter the Great." He drew parallels between Putin's ambitions and historical events, indicating a desire to dismantle the post-World War II order that has fostered freedom and economic prosperity in Europe and beyond.

While acknowledging the limitations on American financial support to Ukraine at present, Congressman Flood stressed the significance of providing Ukrainians with the necessary military support. He stated, "While America shouldn’t be on the hook to fund the everyday operations of Ukraine’s government, it is imperative we give Ukrainians the arms they need to beat back the reincarnation of what Reagan called the 'Evil Empire.'"
