LINCOLN, NEBRASKA – Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood expressed his thoughts following the unanimous decision made by the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of Trump v. Anderson.
“After years of trying to paint themselves as defenders of democracy, liberals tried to throw their political enemy, Donald J. Trump, off the ballot unilaterally," stated Rep. Flood regarding the actions leading up to the case.
Rep. Flood emphasized the potential ramifications of such actions by stating, “Tossing political opponents from the ballot would have been a dangerous precedent to set for our country and would have opened the door to political parties trying to decide elections before a single vote has been cast."
Expressing his satisfaction with the outcome, Congressman Flood remarked, “I am pleased the U.S. Supreme Court issued this unanimous decision, which protects our democratic process and the future of the American republic."
It is noted that Congressman Flood had previously joined an amicus brief alongside more than 170 Members of the House and Senate in relation to the case.
