New Release 02/19/2023 | Cass County Sheriff's Office

Cass County Sheriff Robert Sorenson advised that on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 10:54 a.m., Cass County Sheriff's Deputies and Plattsmouth Fire/ Rescue and Cass County Emergency Management responded to a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of Webster Blvd and Haswell Drive Plattsmouth, NE.
A silver Mazda 3 driven by Kinsley M. Glassburn (21 yoa) of Bellevue was traveling north on Webster Blvd when the driver found herself in the southbound lane, so she steered to get herself back into her lane. The driver went into the east ditch and then overcorrected when she went into the ditch and then across both lanes of travel and down into the west ditch and into the ravine, where the vehicle hit a concrete barrier and then landed in the waterway. The driver of the vehicle admitted to texting while she was driving, and when she looked up from her phone, she had been in the wrong lane of travel and overcorrected, causing her vehicle to go into the ravine. Cass County Emergency Management and Plattsmouth fire worked together to mop up the gasoline and oil that was spilled into the waterway caused by the damage from the vehicle. The vehicle sustained totaling damage and was towed by Sharps towing in Plattsmouth. The driver of the vehicle was transported to UNMC for her injuries.
It is unknown if the driver was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the accident.
The accident investigation is complete.
