The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced on its National Awards Day that nearly 11,000 student-athletes were named as 2021-22 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Two Peru State women's golfers are among the many honored.
Fifth-year senior Taylor Finke (Battle Creek) and junior Brooklyn Brenneis (Tekamah) were given the recognition. It was the third recognition for Finke while Brenneis earned her first honor.
Finke was a language arts teaching major. Brenneis is studying management.
The golf team was also recognized as a NAIA Scholar Team as they finished with a 3.76 cumulative grade point average for the 2021-22 academic year. The team finished with the highest composite team gpa for the Bobcat athletic department.
To be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.
