I had the privilege of stopping by Region V Services to check out the smoke trailer. What is a smoke trailer you ask?
The State Fre Marshall brought out this trailer which simulates smoke in homes & teaches people how to respond in case of smoke in your home.
About 15 different Region V agencies from all over southeast Nebraska came to Beatrice today to participate in the event. There was also food & games, socializing, and a lot of smiling faces.
The idea for this event came about because approximately two years ago a Region V client was home when their room started filling with smoke from a small fire in an outlet. He just continued on with what he was doing not understanding what was happening.
The hope is to have an event like this every year and also include special needs children from our local schools.
I heard they might even invite the fire fighters next time.
