Due to the global pandemic, Seward Memorial Library needed to adapt many services it provided to the community. Staff promoted the drive-up window as a contactless way to check out items, have faxes sent or pick up copies emailed to staff for printing. They expanded their digital offering of ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, and more through Libby and Hoopla services, making resources available 24/7 without coming into the building.
In April 2021, a StoryWalk was installed along the walking trail thanks to donations from the Friends of Seward Library and the Seward Library Foundation with labor provided by the City's Public Works Department.
Spring programs for children and adults went from in person to Zoom and returned to in person by summer. June programs featured magician Keith West, Wildlife Encounters, the Henry Doorly Zoo, Raptor Recovery and the String Beans. The Arthur Clarke Diversity Lecture Series, funded by patron donations, kicked off in the fall of 2021.
Even though there was a pandemic, the Seward Memorial Library was still able to provide many of their services. Events and programs take place every year at the Seward Memorial Library. Be sure to stop by and see what's happening this year! You'll be glad you did!
*Every Thursday look for highlights from each of the City’s departments for 2021. We hope you take time to see all the projects and hard work our employees have put in!
