Rep. Mike Flood, who has represented Nebraska’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2022, recently shared several updates via social media regarding agricultural achievements and legislative efforts. Flood, a native of Omaha and resident of Norfolk, Nebraska, highlighted the state’s contributions to corn production as well as ongoing initiatives addressing housing policy at the federal level.
On July 14, 2025, Flood recognized National Corn Month by noting Nebraska’s prominent role in agriculture. He stated, “July is National #CornMonth. Nebraska ranks #3 nationally for corn for grain production and corn exports. From feeding the world to producing ethanol, Nebraska corn is the basis of the food and fuel consumers rely on!”
Later that day, on July 15, 2025, Flood commented on opportunities for public input regarding housing policy reforms. He wrote, “This is yet another great opportunity for feedback to turn this program into a pro-market, pro-growth tool in fixing America’s housing crisis.”
In a separate post on July 15, 2025, Flood announced an upcoming hearing related to housing policy. He stated, “This Wednesday, @FinancialCmte’s Housing & Insurance Subcommittee will hold a hearing on the HOME Investment Partnerships Program, which will include discussion on forthcoming legislation that we’ve been working on since the new Congress.”
Flood succeeded Jeff Fortenberry in Congress and previously served in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013. He holds degrees from the University of Notre Dame and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
