Congressman Adrian Smith announced on Mar. 24 that nominations are now open for the 2026 Angels in Adoption Award for Nebraska’s Third District.
The Angels in Adoption program is an initiative of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, allowing Members of Congress to recognize individuals or organizations from their districts who have made significant contributions to children needing homes through adoption or foster care. The award aims to highlight those who make a difference in the lives of children and families.
“Every year, Nebraska families open their hearts and homes to children in need. The Angels in Adoption Award recognizes those making a lasting difference through adoption and foster care, and I encourage nominations to help highlight these inspiring stories,” said Smith.
Nominations can be submitted at AdrianSmith.House.Gov/AngelsinAdoption until 5:00 pm Mountain Time on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. For further information about the program or nomination process, constituents may contact Smith’s Scottsbluff office at (308) 633-6333.
Smith has represented Nebraska’s Third District in the U.S. Congress since replacing Tom Osborne in 2007 according to Wikipedia. He previously served as a member of the Nebraska Legislature from 1999 until his election to Congress as reported by Congress.gov. Born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska in 1970, Smith is currently 52 years old and resides in Gering according to Biographical Directory of the United States Congress. He graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993 according to his official House website.
The broader impact of this annual recognition is its support for adoptive families and its encouragement for others considering adoption or foster care.
