Rep. Adrian Smith, who represents Nebraska’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted agricultural trade, military readiness, and livestock health in a series of posts on his social media account.

On August 13, Smith addressed the Midwest Agricultural Export Summit and met with USDA Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Luke Lindberg. In his post, he stated: “Today I spoke at the Midwest Agricultural Export Summit and connected with recently confirmed @USDA Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Luke Lindberg. There is no stagnation in trade. We are either losing ground or moving forward, and I am fighting hard” (August 13, 2025).

Two days later, Smith marked National Airborne Day by attending a Nebraska Army National Guard paratrooper training exercise at Chimney Rock National Historic Site. He wrote: “In observance of #NationalAirborneDay, Nebraska Army National Guard paratroopers conducted a training exercise at Chimney Rock National Historic Site. After the jump, I thanked them for their service and commitment to readiness in defense of our nation.” (August 15, 2025).

Later that same day, Smith commented on beef production and livestock safety following a visit from Secretary Rollins to Nebraska. He posted: “American farmers and ranchers raise the safest, highest quality beef in the world. As @SecRollins heard while visiting Nebraska this week, it is critical we support producers by confronting the threat of New World screwworm. I thank the secretary for acting swiftly to mobilize” (August 15, 2025).

Smith has served as Nebraska’s 3rd district representative since replacing Tom Osborne in 2007 after previously serving in the state legislature from 1999 to 2007. Born in Scottsbluff in 1970 and currently residing in Gering at age 52, Smith graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a BA in 1993.
