Nebraska’s women’s basketball team earned its third straight NCAA Tournament bid, as announced during the ESPN Selection Show on March 15. The Huskers, led by Head Coach Amy Williams, celebrated the news with players and staff at Williams’ home.

The selection marks Nebraska’s 18th appearance in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship. The team has nine all-time victories in the tournament, including Sweet Sixteen runs in 2010 and 2013. Williams said, “We are so excited to be dancing. We have been working hard as coaches and players the past week to be ready for whatever the next step would be, and we are so happy to be back in the NCAA Tournament. Now, we have to do our best to put our best basketball game together against an outstanding Richmond team.”

Nebraska received a No. 11 seed and will face fellow No. 11 seed Richmond in Durham, North Carolina on Wednesday, March 18. Game time and television details have not yet been announced. If Nebraska wins against Richmond, they will play No. 6 seed Baylor at Cameron Indoor Stadium; Duke is hosting as the No. 3 seed from the Atlantic Coast Conference.

This year saw a record twelve Big Ten Conference teams earn bids into the tournament. Nebraska finished its regular season ranked No. 28 in the official NCAA NET rankings while Richmond ended at No. 37 after finishing third in their conference standings.

The Huskers join Nebraska’s men’s team in earning NCAA bids together for the second time in three years; both teams faced Texas A&M in their respective first rounds of the 2024 tournament, with Nebraska women winning that matchup for their most recent NCAA victory.

Nebraska has now made six consecutive postseason appearances since 2020—four times in the NCAA Tournament (2022, 2024, 2025, and this year) and twice in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). The team’s schedule included fourteen games against other teams participating in this year’s tournament.
