Nebraska defeated Richmond 75-56 in the NCAA Women’s Basketball First Four at Cameron Indoor Stadium on March 18, advancing to face Baylor in the next round.

The win marks Nebraska’s second NCAA Tournament victory in three seasons and brings their overall record to 19-12. Richmond ended its season with a record of 26-8. The Huskers’ strong performance was highlighted by a decisive third quarter, where they outscored Richmond 27-6 and built a commanding lead.

Britt Prince led Nebraska with 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including 16 points in the second half. She also contributed three rebounds and five assists. Senior Callin Hake added 14 points, four rebounds, four assists, two steals, and drew two charges. Amiah Hargrove, Jessica Petrie, and Petra Bozan each scored eight points for Nebraska. Logan Nissley and Claire Johnson each made two three-pointers for six points apiece.

Nebraska shot nearly 57 percent from the field and made half of its three-point attempts. The team also limited Richmond to just over 39 percent shooting from the floor and held them to only four successful three-pointers out of twenty-three attempts. Maggie Doogan led all scorers with 24 points for Richmond but scored half her total in the fourth quarter after Nebraska had already secured a large lead.

The Huskers started strong with an early lead before Richmond responded with a run of their own. However, Nebraska regained control before halftime and dominated after the break with a critical scoring surge that put the game out of reach.

With this victory, Nebraska advances to play No. 6 seed Baylor in Friday’s NCAA First Round.
