Nebraska beach volleyball sweeps doubleheader against Trinidad State and Wayne State

The Nebraska beach volleyball team secured two victories on Friday at the UNL Campus Beach Volleyball Courts, defeating Trinidad State 5-0 and Wayne State 4-1. With these wins, Nebraska improved its season record to 3-0.

Against Trinidad State, all five Husker pairs won their matches in straight sets. The exhibition match saw Kenna Cogill and Campbell Flynn earn a 21-19, 21-16 win over Pelin Alci and Jessie Koscovo. In official play, Keri Leimbach and Jayden Robinson opened with a 21-8, 21-9 victory at No. 5 against Ece Caliskan and Aspen Misch. Olivia Mauch and Manaia Ogbechie followed at No. 4 with a decisive win over Kya Gilmore and Araceli Rueda by scores of 21-4 and 21-7.

At No. 3, Andi Jackson and Harper Murray defeated Emma Berkhof and Sylvi Baca 21-15, 21-11. Laney Choboy and Skyler Pierce won at No. 2 against Ana Vitoria-Vian and Sofiia Khrystenko, finishing 21-14, 21-11. Bergen Reilly and Teraya Sigler completed the sweep at No.1 with a win over Kylie Williams and Dakota Martinez, closing out the match with scores of 21-10, 21-6.

In the afternoon matchup versus Wayne State, Virginia Adriano and Gabby DiVita claimed the exhibition match for Nebraska by defeating Mia Berg and Kaelyn Andersen 21-9, 21-14.

Keri Leimbach and Jayden Robinson posted a three-set victory at No.5 against Jolee Ryan and Delaney Miller (21-14, 15-21, 15-11). Olivia Mauch and Manaia Ogbechie also went to three sets at No.4 before winning over Ella Myler and Molly Romano (18-21, 21-18, 15-12).

Wayne State’s only point came at No.3 where Reese Johnson and Mattie Kamery beat Laney Choboy and Skyler Pierce in three sets (21-17, 20-22,17–15). At No.2 Andi Jackson and Harper Murray secured another close match for Nebraska (22–20 both sets) against Channatee Robles/Chloe Hanel. Bergen Reilly/Teraya Sigler sealed the team victory with a win at No.1 over Taylor Bunjer/Anna Borner (21–12; 21–8).

Following official play additional exhibition matches were held: Kenna Cogill/Campbell Flynn fell to Taylor Bunjer/Anna Borner (22–20; 21–15), while Ryan Hunter/Keoni Williams lost to Ella Myler/Molly Romano (21–14; 21–10).

Nebraska will next host Oklahoma Wesleyan on Tuesday morning in the Alloy Strength Complex within the Hawks Championship Center.
