Rep. Mike Flood, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 1st district since 2022, has recently shared his insights and activities on social media. The congressman, who previously served in the Nebraska State Legislature from 2007 to 2013, took to Twitter to discuss topics ranging from housing solutions to honoring fallen police officers.

On May 14, 2025, Rep. Flood tweeted about a hearing held by the Housing and Insurance Subcommittee of the Financial Services Committee. He noted that the session focused on “expanding pro-market solutions to our nation’s housing crisis.” As Chairman of the subcommittee, he expressed satisfaction in welcoming affordable housing experts from across the country to present their perspectives. “Today’s @FinancialCmte Housing and Insurance Subcommittee hearing focused on expanding pro-market solutions to our nation’s housing crisis.”

Later that day, Flood highlighted manufactured housing as a potential remedy for the housing crisis in another tweet. He described it as an “affordable, innovative solution” suitable for young families and mentioned his engagement with witnesses during the subcommittee hearing regarding ways to enhance access to such housing options. “Manufactured housing is an affordable, innovative solution to the housing crisis that any young family could be proud to own.”

On May 15, 2025, Rep. Flood commemorated Police Week by honoring Ceresco Police Officer Ross Bartlett’s sacrifice through a tweet. He recounted hosting Bartlett’s family in Washington D.C., where they shared a story of generosity involving a Capitol Police officer offering them complimentary accommodation at their Airbnb. “During #PoliceWeek, we’re remembering Ceresco Police Officer Ross Bartlett’s sacrifice.”

Congressman Mike Flood was born in Omaha in 1975 and currently resides in Norfolk, Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BA in 1997 and earned his JD from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2001.
