WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood has expressed strong views on TikTok and its impact on American society. In response to the vote on H.R. 7521, also known as the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, Rep. Flood highlighted the dangers posed by the social media app.

"TikTok is the Chinese Communist Party’s favorite social media app for Americans," stated Rep. Flood, emphasizing the app's association with a foreign government. He further added, "It has been used as a tool of propaganda in our country and this narrowly tailored bill will help put an end to that."

The legislation in question mandates action from TikTok's parent company, with Rep. Flood explaining, "The legislation requires TikTok’s parent company to divest from their American division or to face an outright ban in the United States." This move aims to curb any potential misuse of the platform for propaganda purposes.

Highlighting the bipartisan nature of the vote, Rep. Flood underscored the unity in addressing this issue. "Today’s vote was an overwhelming bipartisan show of force sending a message: America will not allow our foreign adversaries to use our country’s free marketplace to undermine our love for liberty," he remarked.
